Lycello flavors are the result of efforts for a sustainable coffee ecosystem

 

At the end of the 20th century, coffee prices suddenly plummeted, causing the coffee market to fall into a severe economic, environmental, and social crisis. The urgent solution to this situation is creating a solid bridge called sustainable coffee that connects coffee production and fair trade. Lycello was born out of a great passion and desire for Ninety Plus’ sustainable coffee model. Inspired by the Gesha coffee variety from the wild Ethiopian forest, the founder and his 90+ farming associates have designed a coffee ecosystem combined with reforestation. They built a pristine forest environment of native trees and animals and grew shade-loving Gesha coffee under the trees. And Lycello Gesha was one of the first coffee varieties tested for organic cultivation and nature conservation.

Regardless of the efforts of his colleagues, Lycello helped Stefanos Domationtis win the World Brewers Cup with a high SCA score of 91.25 points. And it also became a Panamanian myth about the success of the sustainable coffee model.
