Biftu Gudina coffee’s growing region

Biftu Gudina coffee is one of the prime examples of Ethiopian coffee quality.

Biftu Gudina comes from the Amharic language and means “morning sunshine” – meaning bright growth. It is also the name of a cooperative founded in 2012, in Agaro – Goma Woreda.

It has about 150 small producers near the town of Jimma and benefits from an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. In addition, the rich fertile soil, surrounded by trees and ideal fresh air.

The Biftu Gudina Cooperative was established in 2012 as part of the Technoserve (*) initiative to improve the livelihoods of local coffee farmers, and to offer a new variety of coffee flavors that are hard to come by. found in other growing regions. In addition, it creates quality assurance through the establishment of process improvements.

Thanks to two affiliated washing stations, the cooperative is able to source a large number of cherries from more farmers in the area. The average farm size of each household is about 0.5 ha. In addition to the investment in the Biftu Gudina washing station, newly built roads facilitate the transport of coffee, specialized processing equipment and an innovative wastewater filtration system are installed synchronously. The Vetiver wastewater treatment process provides a guaranteed source of natural water filtration throughout the entire production process.

Biftu Gudina coffee’s flavor

Ethiopia has always been famous as the birthplace of coffee, especially for its Specialty coffee industry, which is loved for its incredible variety of flavors.
