Jenkinsii
Jenkinsii (Coffea jenkinsii) is a rare, wild coffee species originating from India. This species is not widely cultivated but has attracted special attention from scientists.
Its most surprising identifying characteristic is its very close genetic relationship to C. arabica (the most common coffee species). Morphologically, the plant has red fruit and thin leaves.
Because it is not cultivated or processed, its flavor profile is unrecorded. Its value is purely genetic, serving as a “relative” of Arabica that holds valuable genes for the future.
