Cupper is a professional coffee taster who specializes in evaluating coffee through cupping, identifying and describing flavors and quality with impartiality. They assess key attributes such as acidity, body, sweetness, and aftertaste to select the best coffee samples.

To become a professional cupper, one must undergo specialized training and obtain certification from reputable organizations such as the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). This role is crucial in maintaining quality standards, as cuppers use the SCA’s 100-point scale to grade coffee.
