Chiroso
Chiroso is a distinctive Arabica coffee variety from Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia. It was discovered and cultivated more than 30 years ago by farmer Jose Arcadio Caro, who valued it for its strong productivity in cold weather conditions.
Chiroso produces long, slender cherries, clearly different from the rounder fruit of Caturra, and thrives at elevations between 1,800 and 2,000 meters where temperatures remain cool. In the cup, it offers pleasant aromas of jasmine, orange blossom, and lemongrass, followed by flavors of peach, white grape, and sweet mango, with a bright and lingering finish.
Today, Chiroso is cultivated widely across Colombia, from Quindío and Nariño to Huila, thanks to its cold tolerance, high productivity, and exceptionally complex flavor profile.
