Ratnagiri Estate is a multi-generational coffee farm located in India’s Western Ghats—a region known for both its biodiversity and agricultural richness. Founded in 1927 and passed down through three generations, Ratnagiri has grown into one of Asia’s leading specialty coffee producers, exporting to demanding markets including the U.S., Japan, and Europe.
What sets Ratnagiri apart is not the fame of its terroir, but its cutting-edge application of biological science and fermentation technology in coffee processing. Using computer-controlled bioreactors, they manage carbonic, anaerobic, and wild-yeast fermentations with surgical precision. This approach doesn’t just create expressive cup profiles—it enables high repeatability, allowing them to design quality rather than merely discover it.
At XLIII Coffee, we chose to partner with Ratnagiri because they represent the convergence of transparency, responsibility, and scientific innovation. In this new era of coffee, Ratnagiri pushes the boundaries of what specialty can mean—where originality is preserved not by tradition alone, but through data, design, and deep respect for nature.
