Javanica
Javanica, also known as JavaNica in Nicaragua, is a less common Arabica variety compared to Typica or Bourbon, yet it carries a fascinating origin story: from Ethiopia, through Java (Indonesia), and then to Central America.
Today, Javanica is mainly cultivated in the Matagalpa region of Nicaragua, where elevations above 1,200 meters and nutrient-rich volcanic soils provide ideal conditions for healthy growth. The variety is naturally resistant to diseases, making it suitable for sustainable farming practices.
Although not widely found in the commercial market, Javanica is highly regarded within the coffee community for its uniqueness and quality potential.
