Ibrik
Ibrik (also known as cezve or briki) is a traditional coffee brewing vessel originating from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, particularly prominent in Turkish coffee culture. It features a compact design with a wide base, narrow neck, and a long handle, typically made of copper or stainless steel for excellent heat conduction.
Coffee brewed with an ibrik requires an ultra-fine grind and is unfiltered. It is slowly heated over low fire to extract optimal flavors and create a signature frothy layer. This brewing method is not just a technique but an integral part of coffee culture in Turkey and the Middle East, even having its own competition—the World Cezve/Ibrik Championship, which celebrates the art of ibrik brewing.
