Drip coffee, also known as pour-over coffee, is a manual brewing method that originated in Japan. This technique utilizes a paper filter and a specialized brewing setup, somewhat similar to the Vietnamese phin filter.

In pour-over brewing, the barista carefully pours hot water over finely ground coffee, allowing gravity to extract the flavors. This process requires precise control over water volume, flow rate, and pouring speed. A slower pour results in a more intense and well-defined flavor, while a faster pour yields a lighter and more delicate cup.

Additionally, pre-wetting the coffee grounds before full extraction (a process known as blooming) is recommended. This step helps prevent fine coffee particles from settling at the bottom and causing clogging, while also ensuring an even extraction and a more consistent brew quality.
