Los Placeres – Fincas Mierisch

First time cooperation: 2025

Cooperation model: Direct Trade

Located in the Yasica Sur community of Matagalpa Province, Nicaragua, Los Placeres is a 169-hectare specialty coffee farm owned by the Mierisch family. Situated at an altitude of 840 to 970 meters above sea level, the farm enjoys a favorable climate, with average daytime temperatures around 25°C dropping to 17°C at night. The harvest season at Los Placeres runs from October through February. The farm is currently managed and operated directly by Mr. Oscar Guadalupe Ramos.

More than just a high-quality coffee growing region, Los Placeres has dedicated 28 hectares of land to tropical rainforest conservation, reflecting a vision of long-term development and a profound respect for nature.

At Los Placeres, a distinctive highlight is the Ethiosar – a unique hybrid coffee variety possessing precious genetic roots from Ethiopia, the land regarded as the original birthplace of Arabica coffee. This variety embodies a blend of East Africa’s traditional, heritage-rich genetics and the resilient vigor of a modern hybrid.

The Mierisch family maintains a profound connection to the land and nature. A philosophy of gratitude toward Mother Nature permeates every cultivation decision, helping to strike a balance between specialty coffee production and the preservation of the surrounding ecological biodiversity.

Los Placeres stands out not only for its flavorful Ethiosar coffee beans from the Matagalpa region but also for the Mierisch family’s commitment to sustainable development. The preservation of 28 hectares of tropical rainforest, combined with a focus on workers’ well-being and women’s empowerment, creates a farming model that harmoniously balances coffee quality, people, and nature.
