Iyenga AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society) is nestled in Mbozi, Songwe – one of the coffee capitals of Southern Tanzania, with a terrain stretching across impressive altitudes of 1,675 to 1,900 meters above sea level.

Established following the practical reforms of the 2003 Cooperative Act, Iyenga AMCOS serves as a steadfast pillar for the community, facilitating the transition from fragmented small-scale production to a centralized and scientific management model. Today, the cooperative is home to 292 members, including 258 men and 34 women, reflecting a commitment to empowering women within the local agricultural value chain.

The region is a convergence point for renowned varieties such as Bourbon, Kent, or N39, creating a vibrant and rich botanical ecosystem. Among them, the Bourbon lineage acts as the “soul,” offering a signature sweetness and delicate acidity.

The heart of this line is the Penagos UCBE 500 – a practical gift from government support that serves as the “core” of the entire wet processing workflow. This next-generation pulper is renowned for its eco-efficient operation, significantly conserving water and energy.

Beyond operations, in recent years, Iyenga AMCOS has made a strategic move by focusing on elevating specialty coffee quality. These persistent efforts were rewarded in 2019 when Iyenga made a significant impact on the industry with a resounding victory at the Taste of Harvest competition.
