First time collaboration: 2025
Collaboration model: Direct trade
Sukkot Coffee is a pioneering African producer specializing in Coffea Racemosa – the world’s rarest wild coffee species. Rediscovered after three years of searching and found in 2003, Racemosa had nearly vanished from the global coffee map since the 1970s. Sukkot Coffee now manages 90% of the world’s remaining Racemosa trees, with 8,500 mature plants in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal.
Racemosa’s uniqueness lies not just in its rarity, but in extraordinary biological characteristics: beans 1/3 the size of Arabica, extremely low natural caffeine (0.75%), only 6 weeks annual harvest, and distinctive basil-lavender flavor profile. Remarkably, Racemosa coffee uniquely improves in flavor over time after roasting. Scoring 91 SCA points from a Brazilian research university, this isn’t just coffee – it’s living biological heritage.
We chose to partner with Sukkot Coffee because we see in them the perfect fusion of scientific conservation, sustainable development, and future vision. Amid climate change, Racemosa represents a new chapter for coffee – where rarity is protected through science, where each cup bridges past and sustainable future.
