Genji Challa Washing Station, located on the edge of Belete-Gera forest in Gera district, Jimma zone, Ethiopia, is the passion project of Kefyalew Deressa. From a hotel employee, Kefyalew has become a coffee industry expert, acquiring this washing station three years ago.

Situated at 2000m altitude, Genji Challa sources coffee from about 250 smallholder farmers, specializing in varieties 74110 and 74165. Employing wet processing methods and experimenting with anaerobic techniques, the station produces high-quality coffee with distinctive vanilla, cinnamon, and orange notes.

With an export price of $13.5 USD/kg, Genji Challa not only enhances the value of Ethiopian coffee but also contributes to local community development. Kefyalew continues to innovate and improve, promising to make Genji Challa a standout on the world specialty coffee map.
