Washing Station
Bona Zuria
First time cooperation: 2024
Cooperation model: Indirect trade
Located in Bona Zuria village in the Sidamo region of Ethiopia at 2,190m above sea level, Bona Zuria washing station was established in 2014 by Mr. Ayele Tulu – who has 45 years of experience working in government agencies in Awassa.
Together with his son Tsegab and brother Yohanis, he manages the washing station serving 300 local farmers who cultivate coffee on farms ranging from 3-8 hectares using CBD-resistant varieties recognized by JARC.
With three processing methods (traditional natural, anaerobic natural, and washed) and a meticulous drying process on covered African raised beds for 4-6 weeks, Bona Zuria plays a crucial role in enhancing the value of Ethiopian coffee in the international market.
